Guan Gong, also known as Guan Yu, was a renowned general of the Shu Han during the Three Kingdoms period. His life exemplified loyalty, righteousness, benevolence, and courage, making him a model of faithfulness and brotherhood. Guan Gong holds a high position in Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism. In Confucianism, he is revered as "Guan Sheng Dijun" (The Holy Emperor Guan); in Buddhism, he is honored as "Jialan Bodhisattva"; and in Taoism, he is known as "Wu Sheng Dijun" (The Martial Emperor). He is also one of the Heavenly Official Deities.
In popular belief, Guan Gong is venerated as the God of War, God of Wealth and Business, Patron of Education, God of Medicine, and Protector Against Evil, among many other roles. His divine powers include protecting families, ensuring the prosperity of careers, safeguarding exams, healing illnesses, warding off disasters, and purging evil spirits. He is also believed to oversee the afterlife and offer divine guidance.
